Frances Bendall White was born on November 1, 1930, in Greenville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Frank and Lila Bendall and preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William H. White, Jr.
After graduating from Greenville High School, Frances attended Ward-Belmont, an all-girls college in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduation, Frances married Bill White, Jr., her childhood sweetheart, and moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where Bill was in medical school.
After graduating from medical school, he and Frances moved to Greenville, South Carolina, then to Norfolk, Virginia, and back to Greenville, South Carolina where Bill completed his residency training. He and Frances then moved to Gainesville in 1962 where he began his medical practice and Frances focused on raising her three sons and being a devoted wife.
Frances’ entire life was centered around her family and her faith. She loved being a mother, engaged in all of her son’s activities and was always their fierce advocate. Frances also cherished her role as “Meme” to her grandchildren. Her love of the outdoors led her to spending many hours tending to her rose garden, playing tennis and traveling with friends. Cooking during the holidays and bringing her family together also brought her great joy.
Although Frances loved Bill and her sons with all her heart, her love for Jesus as her Lord and Savior was the most important thing in her life. Frances had a burning desire to share with others the love of Jesus and how her relationship with Him had transformed her life. This desire took her to Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River, to Siberia on a mission trip, and active involvement in her church. Her Heavenly Father most certainly welcomed her to Heaven at her passing with the greeting, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Frances is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Will and Tricia White, of Gainesville, Steve and Julie White, of Roswell, Georgia, and Todd and Kathy White, of Greer, South Carolina. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Kim Griffin, Pam Branch, Celestine Winters and Inspire Hospice for their loving care of Frances over the last few years.
