Carole Russell Posey Scott

Carole Russell Posey Scott passed away peacefully, October 27, 2024 in Carrollton, Georgia at the age of 82. 

Born to Clyde Russell Sr. and Ermie Miller Russell on April 1, 1942, Carole was delivered at home in Woodland, Georgia (Talbot County). She was named after famed actress of the 1920’s thru 1940’s, Carole Lombard. 

Carole was raised in Woodland, Georgia where she described her childhood as “idyllic”. She graduated from Talbot County High School in 1960.  After high school, she lived with her brother and sister-in-law in Atlanta while attending Massey Business College where she made the Dean’s List. In 1961 she married her high school sweet heart, Gary Posey, of Junction City, Georgia. Gary’s job with Standard Oil Company took them from Atlanta to Knoxville, Tennessee and finally to Toccoa, Georgia in 1970 where she spent the next 47 years. 

Toccoa was the place that was “home to her”.  Toccoa was where she and Gary raised their daughter, Michele, and son, Chris.  Many happy memories were made with wonderful friends.  Carole was a member of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church. In 2017, she moved to a senior living community in Villa Rica, Georgia to be closer to her son where she lived for the remainder of her life. 

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Gary in 1994, her daughter Michele Posey Smith in 2007, her sister Barbara Russell Bryant, her brother Clyde Russell Jr., her second husband Charles “Emmitt” Scott in 2016, and her many beloved pets. 

Carole is survived by her son, Chris Posey and his fiancé, Marylee Woodfin of Villa Rica, Georgia; grandson, Ryan Miller and wife Stormy; granddaughters, Caitlyn and Ashely Posey; great-grandsons, Bo and Rhett Miller; nephew, Keith Bryant Jr; nieces, Jan Bryant, Denise Russell Cummings, Lisa Russell and Renee Russell McDonald; and twelve cousins. 

Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at 11:00 in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Joey Whitlock officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ryan Miller, Chris Posey, Chris Henson, Keith Worley, Cayden Maxwell and Derick Norton. Lance Moore will serve as honorary pallbearer. 

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Carole Posey Scott.

The service will be recorded and posted to the Acree-Davis Funeral Home website for those unable to attend the service.
