Maureen Poss Knight

Maureen Poss Knight, age 86 of Sugar Hill, GA, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow at Sugar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Maureen.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Knight: parents, Ezra Iowa Poss and Minnie Bell Sudderth Poss; brother and sister-in-law, Harold Royson Poss (Selma Moore Poss) sisters-and brothers in law, Sara Faustine Poss Frady (W.T. Frady), Dartha Dean Poss Mayes (Albert Ernest Mayes); brother-in-law, Don Doster; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bonnie and Arizona Knight; sisters-in-law, Mildred Bohn (Charlie), Vivian Lowe (David); brother-in-law, Billy Price. She is survived by her children, Chris Knight (Allison Callahan) and Jan Hill (Guy Meade); grandchildren, Michael Hill (Brooke); great granddaughter, Stevie Ayn Hill: sister, Beverly Gail Poss Doster; sister-in-law, Betty Price; brothers-in-law, Jerry Knight (Wanda), Bonnie Knight (Elaine), Ricky Knight (Carol); many nieces and nephews.

Maureen was born in Sugar Hill, GA and was a graduate of Sugar Hill High School class of 1956. She moved to Atlanta where she worked as a bookkeeper. Maureen married J.C. Knight in 1957 and their marriage lasted 45 years until his death in 2002. J.C. was the love of her life for 67 years until her death. Maureen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She served her community for many years. She was a founding member of the Sugar Hill Women’s Club. She worked as a Poll worker for 25 years and served as a volunteer in the community. She was baptized at Riverside Baptist Church and was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church.
