Johney Fay Barnes, age 81, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
Mr. Barnes was born on April 2, 1943 in White County, Georgia to the late Travis William Barnes and Della Lucinda Tumlin Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Barnes, Earl Barnes, Rev. Henry Barnes, Bradford Barnes; and his sisters, Frances Barnes, Mildred Hammond, and Mary Hazel Ledford.
Mr. Barnes had been employed with Chicopee Manufacturing as well as Fieldale Farms for a number of years. He had also worked in the construction of bridges as well as carpentry. Johney's favorite saying was "Your kindness will never be obliterated", which reflects that he was a selfless man, he will be remembered for his giving attitude, always willing to lend a hand to someone less fortunate than himself.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Christopher Smith, of Lula; Sheila Watkins and Jamie Wood, of Flowery Branch; daughter, Becky Barnes, of Gainesville; sons, Randy Barnes, of Flowery Branch; Rodney Barnes, of Gainesville; sister, Tiney Stowe, of Lula; grandchildren, Alexis Smith, Ashton Smith, Levi Watkins, Jessica Watkins, Ryleigh Watkins, Dustin Barnes, Hannah Barnes, Steven Tyler Barnes, Curtis Barnes, and Sarah Ritter; as well as 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog and loyal companion, Cookie.
Mr. Barnes wishes were to be cremated and no formal services be held.
