Douglas “Doug” Edward Akins

Mr. Douglas “Doug” Edward Akins, 62, of Oakwood passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at his residence following a sudden illness.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. When the Funeral service is completed then the family will have a visitation until 8:00 p.m.

Born December 11, 1961 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Guy and Agness Mardell Wehunt Akins. He was employed with Graham Logging.

Mr. Akins is survived by his sisters, Brenda Akins of Lula, Ann Horsetmeyer of Thompsons Station, TN; brothers, Vernon Akins of Gainesville, Ronald Akins of Flowery Branch, Ricky Akins of Murphy, NC; daughter, Misty Akins of Oakwood; son, John Akins and daughter in law, Nicole of Oakwood; grandchildren, Sean Akins, Alyssa Simpson, Ty Akins, Haydn Akins, Easton Akins and a number of other loving relatives.
