Jimmy was born in Stephens County on April 29, 1968. He was the son of Clyde Herbert Nicholson born in Greenville, SC and Wanda Smith Nicholson born in Toccoa, Georgia.
Jimmy was a devoted member of the Pointe Church where his love for God, family, and friends was evident. He served on the security team and loved his small groups. He cherished spending time with others, sharing laughter and jokes, and always maintained a positive outlook. A compassionate and loving individual, Jimmy consistently placed others before himself. His passion for service and witnessing to others shone through in all he did. He lived life to the fullest while thriving in activities such as traveling, camping, biking, running, and enjoying the great outdoors. The phrase, “To know him is to love him” is a definite description of his character.
His family includes his wife, Gail Nicholson; daughter and son-in-law, Kaylin and Stephen Leopard; son, Brantley Nicholson; grandchildren, Noah Leopard and Micah Leopard; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and David Bell; along with several nieces and nephews: Christopher Bell, Samantha Holman, Carley Bell, and Hayden Bell. His late father-in-law was Hubert Arwood and his mother-in-law is Linda Arwood; brothers-in-law include Wayne and Roger Arwood.
The family invites friends and family to join them at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. You are also invited to join at the Pointe Church on Thursday, October 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed immediately by a service celebrating Jimmy's life. The service will be officiated by Reverend Stephen Leopard and Pastor Chad Smith. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Michael Boyd, Adam Elrod, Justin Ritchey, Todd Broome, John Morgan, David Bell, Cecil Nicholson, and Roger Arowood. Honorary pallbearers will include Jamie Mayes, Rodney Kelley, Scott Stroud, Brandon Hart, Tim Slater, and Scott Nicholson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations are made to the Pointe Church.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the small-town community for the overwhelming love and support during his two-year battle with ALS. They also extend their thanks to his doctors, nurses, therapists, family, friends, and Amedysis Hospice staff.
