It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paul Frederick Kelly of Gainesville, Georgia, who passed suddenly on October 20, 2024.
Fred lived a life full of love, laughter, and service to his family and the Gainesville community. He lived his life with joy and a commitment to serve which was reflected in his work with the Gainesville Jaycees, South Hall and Gainesville Rotary Clubs, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Past President and board member of Chattahoochee Country Club, along with being a patron of the Special Olympics and the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. Fred lived an active life, but he also knew the importance of time with his family and friends.
Fred was born on July 18, 1952 and grew up on a farm in Hollywood, Georgia. He was a talented athlete. He received an associate's degree from Gainesville Junior College and a degree in accounting from the University of Georgia. Fred began his career at Bates, Carter and Company accounting firm and eventually opened his own business serving clients with care and expertise at Kelly & Bell in Gainesville.
In addition to serving his community, Fred loved getting together with his friends, and he had close friendships with many people. He enjoyed being in supper clubs, and the Wine Group where he shared his love of fine wine with his friends. Fred was an avid sports enthusiast, especially attending tailgates and cheering on the Bulldogs at UGA football games. He loved golf and skiing with a passion, and he was so happy when he could do sporting activities with his sons Adam and Patrick.
Fred’s legacy lives on through his children McCree Kelly Simmons, Patrick Kelly, Adam (Hailen) Kelly; grandchildren Grayson Simmons, Keeley Simmons, Adalynn Kelly and JP Kelly; brother David (Hye Kyong) Kelly, sister Sharon (Larry) Cunningham and sister Martha (Jonathan) Cantrell and several nieces and nephews. He is reunited in peace with his beloved wife Lynn Clark Kelly, father and mother Sam and Mary Jewell Kelly, sister Mary Kelly and in-laws Kenneth and Jenetter Clark along with many family members and friends.
The family invites you to celebrate Fred's life at a service at Gainesville First United Methodist Church on Friday October 25th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions to celebrate Fred’s life can be made to the Hall County Special Olympics at 5111 Weaver Road, Gainesville GA 30507 or Quinlan Visual Arts Center.
