Donald Gene Underwood, age 73 of Homer, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Born on April 11, 1951, in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mellie Lou Reynolds Underwood. Mr. Underwood worked various jobs over the years before retiring from Banks County School System, where he worked as a custodian. He was married his late wife, Sharon, for 36 happy years, until her death earlier this year. Mr. Underwood was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church, who knew the Lord, having been saved on July 15, 1973.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Wilson Underwood; sister, Roberta Phillips; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Patsy Wilson.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Karen Crumley (Wesley) of Alto and Rebecca Pucket (Jason) of Oakwood; six step-grandchildren, including two special step-grandsons, Ryan and Brandon Crumley, whom he appreciated very much; sisters, Romi Lee Bennett and Karen Kishimoto (Mike) all of Gainesville; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lynda and Pete Garrison of Homer, Wanda and Terry Dale of Gillsville, and Donna Wilson of Homer.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Baldwin City Cemetery.
