Brian Thomas Abernathy

Brian Thomas Abernathy, age 51, of Cornelia, Georgia transitioned to Heaven on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Mr. Abernathy was born on March 6, 1973 in Habersham County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Sherman Abernathy; brother, Mark Edward Abernathy; maternal grandparents, Archie and Ruby Simmons; paternal grandfather, Sherman Abernathy; cousin, Melissa Mobley. He worked in the field of industrial construction, most recently with PIC, where he exemplified his passion and great work ethic. Outside of work, Brian cherished the simple joys of life. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time outdoors, finding solace and peace in nature. His happiest moments were those spent on the water, rod in hand, or exploring the beauty of the natural world around him. More than anything, Brian was a family man. He was a devoted son, a loving uncle, and a true friend to those who knew him.

Survivors include his son, Kaleb Abernathy, of Cleveland; mother, Elaine Sullens, of Cornelia; brother, Matthew Abernathy, of Cornelia; nephew, Mark Roberts, of Cornelia; niece and her spouse, Haley and Brandon Eldreth, of Cornelia; niece, Jessie Tilson, of Cleveland; great-nephews, Nolan and Nash.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church. All friends and family are welcomed.
