Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. John Milton Puckett, age 82 of Athens, Georgia (South Jackson Community) who entered rest Sunday, October 13, 2024. Mr. Puckett was born in Watkinsville, Georgia, a son of the late Ephraim Anderson Puckett and the late Grace Compton Puckett. Mr. Puckett was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church, was a retired Machinest from Reliance Eletric after twenty five years and was a self employed Mechanic, Antique Car Collector and Enthusiast. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett is preceded in death by sons, John Anderson Puckett and Robert Milton “Junior” Puckett. Brothers, Carlton Puckett, Carroll Puckett, and a sister Linda Puckett.
Survivors include his twenty one year Companion, Gail Scogin. Two sons, Mark Puckett (Carly) of Jefferson, William Puckett (Louann) of Jefferson. Daughter, Rebecca Edwards of Athens. Step Children, Teresa Janson (Kevin) and Donna Davis. Brother, Billy Puckett (Lynn) Jefferson. Sisters, Janice Maggie Puckett of Athens, Ann Lord (Johnny) of Nicholson and Rosemary Harrison of Decatur. Eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Smith and Steven Cooms officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Billy Puckett, Mark Puckett, William Puckett, Drew Puckett, Will Puckett and Jackson Puckett. Jimmy Nash and David Archer will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home.
