Steve Hamby, 68, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born December 21, 1955, Steve had been a resident of Dawson County for the past 40 years. He was a 1973 graduate of Osborn High School in Marietta. Steve began his career at a large company doing maintenance and worked his way up to being a construction consultant with Newbanks Inc. until his retirement. He loved working hard, enjoyed his animals and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Helen Hamby and a brother, Kirby Hamby.
Surviving are his children, Jimmy Hamby (Jennifer) of Dawsonville; Tim Hamby (Tara) of Dawsonville, Madeline Small of Dawsonville, McKenzie Hamby of Savannah; sister, Etta Cobb of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Josiah, Abigail, Karley, Karson; special friends, Andy Wallace, Travis Pelfrey, Cory Gee, Mark Crane, Chris Wiley, Ryon Johnson, Steven McBrayer. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the residents and staff of Magnolia Senior Living where Steve leaves behind many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Andy Wallace and Pastor Jimmy Hamby will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 13 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday, October 14 from 12 noon until the service hour.
