Frederick Ray Smith Toccoa, Georgia
Mr. Frederick Ray Smith, age 75 of Anderson Road, Toccoa passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence.
A son of the late Phares Junior Smith and Ila Ruby Cleveland Smith, he was born June 16, 1949 in Stephens County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Decatur, Georgia, later living in Lilburn, Georgia and Jefferson, Georgia for 14 years before moving to Toccoa in June, 2024. He attended Gordon High School in Dekalb County. He was employed with Lockheed for a number of years, with McDaniel Printing for one year and later with Safe Guard Business Systems where he retired with 27 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Centerville Baptist Church. He loved camping, working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Susan Born Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Patricia Smith of Jefferson, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and David Horner of Snellville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Evan Smith, Olivia Smith and Kage Horner; brother and sister-in-law, Vernard and Jeanette Smith of Hoschton, Georgia; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 10, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Elrod officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m., Evan Smith, Kage Horner, David Horner, Tony Born, Steven Smith and Jonah Segars.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Empyrean Hospice, 63 Plotts Street, Suite E, Blairsville, Georgia 30512 or Old Toccoa Baptist Church, P.O. Box 682, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mr. Frederick Ray Smith.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Frederick Ray Smith.
