Cecile Christine Mize Toccoa, Georgia
Cecile Christine Mize, 84, of Toccoa, Georgia, passed away on October 6, 2024, at Hospice of NGMC surrounded by her family. She was born on April 7, 1940. Cecile spent much of her life serving others and sharing her love and faith.
Cecile was known for her kindness and unconditional love. She never forgot anyone's birthday and was always generous, especially to those less fortunate. She was dedicated to studying and following God’s word, attending church, and praying daily for her family and others. A member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1981, she was a devout prayer warrior, always ready to offer her prayers for family and friends. Her presence brought joy to those around her, always accompanied by her infectious smile.
Professionally, Cecile worked as a committed retail sales associate at Belk of Toccoa for 18 years before her retirement. She had a passion for reading and caring for animals, especially her beloved cat, Gus.
Cecile is survived by her loving family: her daughters, Yvette Parkhurst and Darlene Snyder; son-in-law, Darrell Snyder; grandchildren, Dalton and Olivia Snyder, Dustin Snyder, Wesley and McKenzie Phillips II, Chelsea and Fahrid Alhamwi, Bailey Blake, and Tatiana Parkhurst; great-grandchildren, Wesley Phillips III, Laith Alhamwi, Ellie Blake, Kolea Blake, and Kai Alexander. She is also survived by her brother, Henri Wantz, and his wife, Helga; brother-in-law, Rene Kirsch; and sister-in-law, Renee Wantz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Marie Christine Wantz; brothers, Theo and Jean-Pierre Wantz; and sister, Marguerite Kirsch.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in her honor at St. Mary Catholic Church in Toccoa, Georgia, on Wednesday, October 9, at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Rothell Road Extension, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 or Memorials Processing, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959 in memory of Cecile C. Mize.
