Lynn Lane

Obituary Date: Monday, September 30, 2024

Lynn Lane, age 68, of Buford, GA passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024.

Too young and too soon did she depart, yet on to her next adventure, her next truth, her next joy did she go. She was leaving with no regrets, leaving after a lifetime of laughter, and with an appreciation of the special qualities in each person she met. The sadness is only in missing the love and life she brought to those fortunate to know her. Lynn fought the battle with cancer and won the war of never letting it define her.

Lynn Lane passed from this realm to the next on September 3, 2024. Born in Sumter, SC on February 22, 1956 into an Air Force family, she moved many times in her youth and was fond of telling stories of her years in France as an elementary student learning french. Her later school years were spent in Orlando FL where her affinity for flip-flops grew.

She is preceded in her life journey by her parents, Darrell and Geraldine (Damron) Baker, her older sister Carol Baker, her daughter Tiffany Suzanne Dodge, and her first husband Damon Dodge. Carrying on her joy and love of life are husband for 25 wonderful years Scott Lane, son Clifton and daughter-in-law Christie Dodge with their two beautiful children Trevor and Devyn, sister Kim and her husband Darryl Buchanan and their lovely daughter Heather, brother Fred and his wife Lanette Baker and their wonderful children Justin, Karissa, and Jaxson, step-daughter Carlie and her husband Matt Gaffney and their precious children Michael and Connor, and step-son Peter and his wife Krisi Lane and their enthusiastic son Lachlan. She also had a very special bond with Bill Aycock.

Lynn had a beautiful, fullfilling 30-year career teaching with Buford City School with wonderful children and excellent teachers. In retirement she surely missed the comradary and excitement of the children's learning. Her retirement years were spent at the lake, in the mountains, at the seashore, and traveling abroad. She maybe even over-decorated for Christmas time! The time was all too short.

Lynn had a sharp and no-nonsense mind, and a quick and laughter-filled wit. She was kind, caring, dedicated to her family and friends, and had a courageous soul. She was dedicated to be encouraging of everyone and was a lover of laughter and truth. We were all fortunate to know her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10 from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at 3:00 p.m.
