Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Tessa Wadford Cook, age 81, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, October 4, 2024. Mrs. Cook was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the daughter of the late James Leroy Wadford and the late Dorothy Kemmerlin Arant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Barrett James Fanczi.
Mrs. Cook retired after 37 years as a registered nurse working for the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina. She was a graduate of North Augusta High School and Columbia Nursing School. Tessa loved her career and serving the military community at the VA hospital in Charleston. A well respected nurse, she garnered numerous achievements throughout her career. Tessa was the charge nurse, nurse manager in the psychiatric unit, and was well known for her dedication to her patients, colleagues, and the VA as a whole. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid chef, known for her ability to come up with gourmet meals from just about anything. She measured everything with love. Tessa enjoyed spending time with her family and late night talks with the love of her life, Bill.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, William Ronald Cook of Jefferson, GA. Daughter, Angie Hollingsworth of Jefferson, GA. Three grandchildren, Edward Symons of Augusta, GA, Josh Symons (Breanna) of Charleston, S.C. and Brandi Fanczi (Steven) of Jefferson, GA. Five great grandchildren, Avaleigh, Paxton and Mason Symons, Colton Fanczi and Liam Symons. Brother, Jim L. Wadford Jr (Pat) of Columbia S.C.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Evans Memory Gardens with David Hollingsworth officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service at the graveside.
