Christi Gail Lackey

Christi Gail Lackey, 55, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home in Cumming, GA. Christi was an outgoing person who loved people and never met a stranger. She had many friends from different aspects of her life – high school, church, neighborhoods where she lived and her working life. She was always in communication with the people she cared about and wanted them to know how important they were to her. Christi was well loved by her family and her many friends. She will be greatly missed.

Christi was born to the late Florine and R. G. Lackey, Jr. in Chamblee, Ga. She graduated from Cross Keys High School in 1986 and moved to Cumming around 2005. As her parents’ youngest child, Christi enjoyed a close relationship with her mother and father, as well as the rest of the family. Weekly Sunday lunches with her sisters and both parents were a ritual all of her adult life. Christi enjoyed taking her nephew and niece on many adventures when they were children, anything from zoos to corn mazes. She loved music, especially 80’s music and Chris Cornell, loved Donald Duck, and just about every single animal that she ever came across, but most of all cats, especially her boy Randy.

Christi was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Neal Lackey, and nephew Christopher Fabian Lackey. She is survived by sisters Deborah (Larry) Wilson, Jasper, GA, Denise Howell, Decatur, GA, Lesa (Steve) Hagelin, North Wales, PA, and nephews Alexander Howell, Bryan Hagelin, Nicholas Hagelin, niece Emily Howell, and many other loving relatives.

A Celebration of Life for Christi will be held at 2 pm on October 12, 2024, in the chapel of Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA 30030.

As anyone who knew Christi knew how much she loved all animals, we would like to request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelter, 5235 Union Hill Rd, Cumming, GA 30040 (www.furkids.org) or an animal charity of your choice.
