Kay Hassell Puryear was born February 24, 1942 in Memphis, TN. She left us on September 25, 2024 and our hearts smile knowing she was reunited with her Dad and Mom, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse & Janice Hassell, sister Betty Sue Hassell and sister Sara LaGore, in heaven.
Kay grew up in Chatfield, Arkansas, attended Arkansas State University before marrying her husband of 62 years, Fred L. Puryear. Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She loved unconditionally and always had a tender heart for the underdog and those less fortunate. She worked in retail in Savannah for 5 years and in Atlanta for 14 years for Macy’s Department Store (formerly Rich’s) where she received multiple awards for outstanding sales and customer service.
Survived by family who will miss Kay dearly but will forever hold her close in their hearts include her husband, Fred L. Puryear, son, Brad Puryear (Jennifer), daughters, Dawn Edleman (Barry), Jessica Puryear, and Suzanne Doll (Bill); grandchildren, Ryan Edleman (Sophie), Hartley Dillard (Nathan), Kalyn Brown (Chandler), Jackson Carter, Bradford Puryear, Ryals Puryear, Tessa Doll, Zach Puryear, and Canaan Doll; great-grandchildren Payton Edleman, Baker Edleman, Brynlee Brown and Sutton Brown; brother-in-law David LaGore, sister-in-law Mary Gretel and several nieces and nephews.
