Grady Simpson Toccoa, Georgia
Mr. Grady Douglas Simpson, age 78 of Letourneau Drive, Toccoa passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A son of the late Hugh John Simpson and Ruby Lee Palmer Simpson, he was born May 14, 1946 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was retired as an Independent Life Insurance Salesman with American General. He retired from the Army National Guard, Sergeant First Class (E7) with 20 years of service. He was a member of Toccoa Assembly of God where he served in several capacities: taught Commander Royal Rangers for 50 years, Sunday School Teacher for the Faith Workers Sunday School Class, Deacon of the Church, Vice Chairperson and played bass. He had been singing Gospel Music since 1961 with The Simpson Family. He was a licensed minister with the Congregational Holiness Church for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Hope Simpson Hamilton, his brother, Harrison Hugh Simpson and his sister, Judy Richardson.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Lisa Karen Green Simpson; son, Jeff Simpson of Athens, Georgia; son-in-law, Ray Hamilton of Lavonia, Georgia; grandchildren, Caroline Hamilton and Cole Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Carter Hamilton, Abaigail Hamilton and Hadley Hamilton; brother, Russell Simpson of Martin, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda and Roy Mans, Teresa Ann Simpson and Wanda Simpson all of Martin, Georgia; sister-in-law, Delores Simpson of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 26, 2024, 11 o’clock a.m. at Toccoa Assembly of God with The Reverend Lester Cowan and The Reverend Clarke Kesler officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should meet at the funeral home by 10:00 a.m., Matt Dwire, Cole Hamilton, Pete Windus, Nish Kay, Ray Hamilton, Allen York, Brian Richardson and Kene Whitaker. Royal Rangers, Christian Kay, T.J. Kay and William Kay will serve as honorary pallbearers and should meet at the church by 10:30 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Toccoa Assembly of God, 696 Rothell Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 to be used for Operation Christmas Child in memory of Mr. Grady Douglas Simpson.
Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with Military Honors by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard and the White County V.F.W. Honor Guard. Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Grady Douglas Simpson.
