Linda Cowart Tout

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Mrs. Linda Cowart Tout, 80, of Savannah, GA passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Born on September 21, 1943 in Savannah GA, she was the daughter of the late E.L. Cowart and “Teeny” Carter Cowart.

Linda met the love of her life, Thomas Tout, while attending Boston University Seminary. They married on August 21, 1966 and ended up in Atlanta, GA.

Being the wife of a minister is not always easy, but Linda made it look that way. She was always in the choir and involved in the Children’s ministry of every church they served. Tom and Linda were a team, and it showed. Overall, they served 9 churches in the Atlanta area.

Linda had a great passion for helping children. She helped open one of the first non- profit Child Care Centers in the country at Home Park Community in Atlanta, GA. Following that, she opened one for the First Atlanta Bank employees. She then went on to do the same for Northside Hospital. She was involved at a national level as President of the NAEYC. In addition to helping children, she also encouraged several of her staff members to further their education and many of them did.

When Tom and Linda retired, they moved to Waynesville, NC, living on the edge of a mountain with a view only God could provide. However, their work was not finished. Linda assisted the Child Care Center at the United Methodist Church and taught at the local college while Tom served Shady Grove UMC for 10 years. Linda was also an active member of the PEO Sisterhood.

Linda was known by her friends as kind, loving, generous, a dear friend, and brilliant. Many, many lives were touched by her kind and loving spirit.

Mrs. Tout is survived by her husband Charles Thomas Tout of Waynesville, NC, her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Brent Langford of Suwanee, GA, her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Sandy Tout of Cumming, GA, her grandchildren; Caroline Langford, Evan Langford, Mattison Tout, Kinsley Tout, Avy Tout, her brother and sister-in-law Elton and Priscilla Cowart, and a number of other loving relatives.

The Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.
