Benjamin Jerry Ferguson

Mr. Benjamin Jerry Ferguson, Jerry or Shack as many knew him, age 83 of Gillsville, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center with his family by his side.

Jerry was born on January 17, 1941 in Gillsville, to the late Pat and Lillie Mae Tate Ferguson. He attended Gillsville School and later served his country in the United States Army. Jerry met and married his loving wife of 63 years, Maurine Ray Ferguson. He spent many years as a machinist at Westinghouse and later retired from General Motors. After retirement, he was active with the Gideon’s International. Jerry was happiest tinkering and fixing things, hunting, and camping. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. In additions to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phil Fergurson; sister, Patsy Davis; brothers, Bill, Bobby, Johnny, Richard, and Harold Ferguson.

Jerry is survived by his wife; sons and daughter-in-law’s, Wayne Ferguson (Sheri) of Gainesville and Harold Ferguson (Amy) of Gillsville; daughter-in-law, Happy Ferguson of Gillsville; grandchildren, Jennifer and Craig Roberts, Derrick and Michelle Ferguson, Stephanie and Tyler Sims, Alyssa and Rick Holmberg, Ben Ferguson, Sara and Dakota Hunt, Charlie Ferguson, Noah Ferguson, and Asa Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Braylon Holmberg, Parker Sims, Kyle Roberts, Hudson Holmberg, Chelsea Roberts, and Kimber Sims; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ferguson (Joleen); sister and brother-in-law, Joan Faust (Ron); sister-in-law, Shirley Childs; brother-in-law, Tim Ray (Hope) and David Ray; sister-in-law, Linday Ray; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at Midway Church with Rev. Marshall Dale, Rev. Jason Buffington, Mr. Derrick Ferguson, and Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Midway Church Cemetery Fund.
