Elba Nydia Lozada

Mrs. Elba Nydia Lozada, age 72 of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Iglesia Nueva Vida with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Rev. Edgar Flores will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lozada was born January 6, 1952 to the late Candido Otero & Emerita Fontanez in Comerio, Puerto Rico. She married Luis E. Lozada on July 8, 1972 and after having three children they moved to Brentwood, NY to raise their family. Elba was retired in 2007 from the Town of Islip, where she worked in the office of the Town Clerk.

Before relocating to Gainesville, GA, in 2007 to begin their retirement and join Free Chapel, she and her husband successfully transitioned their leadership after 20 years of lovingly pastoring the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church of God in Uniondale, NY.

Although no longer in Pastoral ministry, she continued caring for God’s people by serving at food pantries, visiting elder home facilities and doing short-term missionary trips. Elba was known for her loving disposition to gather people and create belonging, even with strangers. She never studied the culinary arts, but she was well known for delighting the palettes of all who ate her food and overindulged in her baking.

Elba loved Jesus.

She is survived by her husband, Luis Esteban Lozada; children, Luis Jr, Steven, Joshua and Julia. grandchildren Kayla, Gabriella, Steven Ethan, Luis III, Karissa, Kevin and Caleb.
