Regina Denise Promise-Powell was born in Chicago, IL on February 2, 1969 to Essie Lee Manson & Robert Lewis Promise. Regina grew up on the Southside, where she spent majority of her youth on Green Street with Darlene, Kim & Many more close friends. She attended D.S. Wentworth Elementary, graduated from Neal F. Simeon Career Academy, Class of 1988, after which she enrolled at Truman College. Regina was a star basketball player throughout her school days. Shortly after, Regina became a Mother, welcoming her first daughter, LaTisha McNeal. A couple years later, another baby girl, LaTosha Davis arrived. In 1995, Regina greeted her one and only son, Jermaine Fleming Jr. From Schulze & Burch Biscuit Co. to the now Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Regina’s Career in manufacturing soared! Regina accepted the opportunity to relocate to Georgia with Wrigley in 2006. Gina developed many lifelong relationships with her closest friends during her time at these Plants, including her best friend & witness to matrimony, Mrs. Shelley Turnage-Curry. In 2016, Regina & her husband, Billy Ray Powell Jr. walked through the sands of Jamaica to become one in marriage. Regina loved to travel the world with Billy. They did everything together. Billy gave a good fight trying to turn her into a Saints fan but Gina stood tall for the Bulls & the Bears. Chicago is her city & she let it be known at every game they enjoyed together! Regina’s captivating smile and energetic personality illuminated any space she entered. She devoted her life to her family, whom she deeply loved & supported. Regina enjoyed traveling, bowling with her league family, cracking jokes, cooking for her business “Gina’s Cookin” , and raising her first Granddaughter, Janiyah. Gathering people was non-negotiable! All she had to say was “I’m cooking”! Regina was a consummate motivator, leader, and friend. Her thoughtful spirit, fierce personality, and steadfast determination will be remembered by the lives she impacted. Regina is proceeded in death by her grandmother Lubertha, her mother Essie, her father Robert and brother in Law Jermaine. Regina leaves to cherish her legacy: her husband Billy; children: LaTisha, LaTosha (Omar), and Jermaine; bonus daughter; Kaysey; 6 grandchildren; Janiyah McNeal, Omar (Jai) Ward, Elaina Ward, Jori Fleming, JaMari Cotton, and Amoura Fleming; sister Patricia (Johnson) and brother Anthony (Promise); Nieces and Nephews; Anthony, Carcitia, Khiaro, LaShay, and Layanna along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Regina Denise Promise-Powell was called home for another assignment .
