Mr. Lewis “Phil” Butler age 72 of Dawsonville passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024.
Phil was a native and lifelong resident of Dawsonville. He was born on October 18, 1951, to the late Lewis and Willie Jewell Calhoun Butler. Phil loved life and giving to others. He looked forward to the Toys for Tots Run every year. Whether it was a Santa suit or behind the makeup as a clown, Phil loved to bring a smile to children’s faces. He was involved in mission work that went from coast to coast and continent to continent. Phil was a friend to many, especially his lifelong friend Shirley Westbrook and his fishing buddies Gerald Kennedy and Mike Ramey. He loved his pets and was a proud “dog daddy” to Samson, Caesar, and Simon.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife, of 39 years, Cindy Embry and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the chapel of Anderson Underwood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Nimblewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
