Henry Odes Shope

Mr. Henry Odes Shope, 91, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Morgan will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on November 25, 1932 in Dahlonega, he was the son of the late Miles Wrestel and Annie Sue Byers Shope. He was self-employed and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Shope was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Shope.

Mr. Shope is survived by his daughter, Johanna “Jo” Jones of Gillsville; son and daughter in law, Michael “Mike” and Perci Shope of Dunwoody’ grandchildren, Adrian and Synthia Jones, Megan and Aaron McCollum, Kelton Shope,  Jenica Shope; Great Grandchildren, Beckham Jones and Carsyn Jones, Hammond McCollum; brother, Clarence Shope of Nicholson; brother and sister in law, Jim and Carol Shope of Gainesville; sisters and brother in law, Martha and David Dougherty of Gainesville; sister, Bernice Payne of Murrayville,  and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
