Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” Reynolds Bragg, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, age 79, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Thursday September 12, 2024. Betsy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana the daughter of the late Eugene Franklin Reynolds and the late Doris Elaine Nelson Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Lee Stender of Huntsville, AL.
Betsy lived a full life full of love, faith, and service to others. She was a retired Registered Nurse working for Joan Glancy Hospital and the Gwinnett Hospital System. She was a long-time member of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, GA, where she also taught kindergarten for more than 15 years. She was later a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA, and more recently The Jefferson Church, Jefferson, Georgia. She was a woman of many talents and passions. She used her gift of creativity and her service-oriented nature to dedicate her life to making the world a better place. Her career as a kindergarten teacher, as a Registered Nurse, and her dedication to her church gave her the platform to do just that. Her unwavering love was generously shared with everyone she met, and it helped them heal, grow, and love.
One of Betsy’s greatest joys was being a dedicated patriot. She took immense pride in her country and often expressed this through her actions and words. Her love for cooking was another hallmark of her life, and she could often be found in the kitchen, whipping up delicious meals for her loved ones for any possible occasion. She loved to invent new desserts. She loved to crochet and had a goal of crocheting a blanket for every adult in the family. Additionally, her green thumb was evident in her beautiful garden, which brought her peace and joy.
Betsy (“Lala” to her grandchildren) had a special place in her heart for all children, but especially her 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She loved playing with them, creating cherished memories for them, challenging their thought process, supporting them at all costs, and spoiling them in any way possible. Her enthusiasm for celebrating Christmas brought joy to everyone around her, making the holiday season even more magical. It just wasn’t Christmas without “Lala’s Christmas” and her stories about Jesus’ birth.
Her greatest joy in life was her love and commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betsy spent much of her time studying the Bible and sharing her faith in Jesus with others. Through many challenges in life, her faith in God never faltered and was the rudder of her life. Her conversations about faith were a source of inspiration and comfort to many. Therefore, she believed deeply in serving others, and helping to mold them to their greatest potential in life. Her acts of kindness and generosity were a testament to her character. Her smile and her deep laughter were a gift to anyone in her presence.
Betsy’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, wisdom and service. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. Her legacy of unconditional love and dedication to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rest in peace Betsy, Mom, Momma, Lala, Child of God. Your memory will forever be a blessing to us all.
