Lessie Cochran Clayton, age 89 of Martin, GA formerly of Buford passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Joey Wiggley will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Shriners Children Hospital. Lessie is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Clayton; Daughter, Linda Clayton; Sister, Lois Porter; Brothers, Leonard Cochran and Philip Cochran. She is survived by her daughter, Libbie Dodd and husband Wayman, Martin, GA; Grandchildren, Amanda Curry and husband Scott, Martin, GA and Wesley Dodd, Martin, GA; Great Grandchildren, Ansley, Sydney, Knox; Sisters, Della Oliver, Buford, GA, Stella Tankersley, Ellijay, GA, and Veda Payne and husband Larry, Cumming, GA. Several Nieces and Nephews. Lessie was born in Ellijay, GA , lived in Buford for over 60 years and recently moved to Martin, GA to be near her family. She retired from Dolco Packing Company and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
