Gloria Davidson Elrod

Mrs. Gloria Davidson Elrod, 73, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Monday, September 16, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Drewery Loggins and Mr. Shane Gaddy will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gloria had lived with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 20 and kidney failure for the last twelve years.

Born on March 19, 1951 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late George and Frances Davidson. She was a 1969 South Hall High School graduate. After high school, she worked in the dental profession 42 years and as a registered dental hygienist for 39 of those years. Gloria lived in Oakwood for 23 years prior to moving to the Apple Pie Ridge of Alto in 2001 where she resided until now. She was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church of Cornelia. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Davidson; brother, Phillip Davidson; niece, Tina Davidson Floyd; and parents in law Clyde and Carolyn Elrod.

Mrs. Elrod is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Reggie Elrod who was her constant caregiver. Also surviving are her son and daughter in law, Travis and Monica Elrod of Athens; granddaughters, McKenzie and Sydney of Athens; brother, Walter Davidson of Cleveland; nieces, Kelli Anson and Amy Davidson and their families of Jacksonville, FL. She had many other relatives and friends; a special friend to the family, Lisa Shope. She loved her pets and was a good cat-mom to Allie Cat and George Jones.
