Rev. Cecil Reeves, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born December 24, 1937, Cecil was a native of Hall County and had lived in Dawsonville since 1966. Along with his son, they owned and operated Reeves Grading, Hauling, and Septic Service. An ordained Baptist Minister, he had pastored New Testament, Chestatee, Prospect, New Bethel, Christian Hill and High Shoals Baptist Churches. He was a 50 year member of Chestatee Lodge # 102 F&AM and was a member of the Sardis Odd Fellows Lodge. A member of Liberty Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Barbara and George Askew.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Christine Reeves, Dawsonville; children, Randy and Amy Reeves, Vickie and Douglas Wofford, Lynn and Jackie Townley, Gary and Kelley Reeves, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Christi and Boyd Tasker, Dustin Wofford, Matthew and Melody Reeves, Zack Reeves, Ryan Tate, Kyle and Victoria Tate; great grandchildren, Macy and Alex Fortner, Harlee Wofford, Brooke Reeves, Brenleigh Reeves, Stella Reeves, Cannon Reeves, Michael Tate, Mark Ryan Tate; great great grandchildren, Austin Fortner, Fletcher Fortner, Foster Fortner, Farrah Fortner; sister and brother in law, Barbara and Roy Batten, Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, George and Sandra Askew, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Jason Hamby, Rev. Jack Biddy, and Rev. Max Padgett will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 7 and Sunday from 12 until 3 at the funeral home.
