Daniel "Dan" Webster Truluck

Obituary Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2024

Daniel "Dan" Webster Truluck passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 2024, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. His family and friends were with him.

Dan was born on January 4, 1940 and raised in Jefferson, GA, where he and Mary Katherine Jackson met and became sweethearts throughout high school. He graduated and served with distinction in the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command. After returning home in 1964, Dan and Mary Katherine were married and moved to Gainesville. Making Gainesville there home and starting a family, Dan graduated from Georgia State University, earning a degree in Business Administration. Dan worked as an engineer for Southern Bell and AT&T for 32 years and Mary Katherine as a Registered Nurse.

After a very successful engineering career, Dan retired to spend more time with family and devote time to community service. Dan was a giving and caring member of the Gainesville/Hall County community for 60 years. He was an active member and leader in the Gainesville Lions Club for 43 years, serving 3 terms and the organization’s President. Dan was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

One of Dan’s God-given gifts, that friends will evermore remember, was his willingness to help others whenever needed. He had a generous and caring heart. He was truly a good friend to many in the Gainesville area!

But most of all, Dan’s greatest joys were his children and his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Daniel Matthew Truluck, Panama City, FL; son, Mark Anderson Truluck, Pensacola, FL; son, David Anthony Truluck, Woodstock, GA; daughter in law, Dana Marie Bennett Truluck, Pensacola, FL; daughter in law, Georgiana Conrad Truluck, Woodstock, GA; grandson, James Anderson Truluck, Pensacola, FL; grandson, Nicholas McHenry Truluck, Woodstock, GA; granddaughter, Katherine Ellen Truluck, Syracuse, NY; granddaughter Amberly Paige Truluck Myers, Woodstock, GA; sister-in-law, Sue Brown Truluck, Watkinsville, GA; and sister, Carol Truluck, Panama City, FL; and great granddaughter, Stella Arden Myers, Woodstock, GA.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Fred Sinclair Truluck; his mother, Annelle Truluck Owensby; his step mother, Nannie Mae Calhoun Truluck Pugh; his twin brother, Donald Sinclair Truluck; his sister, Lynda Anne Truluck Stewart; his daughter in law, Jan Hendricks Truluck and his loving wife Mary Katherine Jackson Truluck who passed away in 2016.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday September 23rd at 2:00 p.m., Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Jamey Prickett. After the Service, a Reception will be held in the church.
