S. Elizabeth Williams Young

Obituary Date: Monday, September 2, 2024

Ms. S. Elizabeth Williams Young, age 78, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Ms. Young was born on January 5, 1946, to the late Boysie Williams, Sr. and Gussie Williams of Mt. Airy, Georgia.  She retired from the Cornelia Veneer Company and Fieldale Farms. At an early age, she became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as the leader of the hospitality team until her sickness.  In her spare time, she enjoyed being Gran-Gran to her great grandchildren, reading, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Boysie Williams, Jr. and George Williams; two sisters, Louise Williams and Margaret Williams; and a son-in-law, Tony Maxwell.

To cherish her memories, she leaves four children: two sons, Ronny Young and James Young; two daughters, Delores Maxwell and Michelle Young (Tim Banks); six grandchildren, Miranda Jackson (Nate), Darius Young, DeVante Banks (Twory), Shantelle Maxwell (Karli), Jaimaya Banks, and Xavier Maxwell (Dagan); eight great grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Earlie Williams; one sister, Ethel Mae Rogers; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Homegoing services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, at 2 PM, with Rev. Joe Lee Banks, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Mt. Airy, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 5-7 pm, at the funeral home.
