Debra “Debbie” Elaine (Buttner) Clark passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of 65.
Debbie was born January 9, 1959, to George and Noel (Steidle) Buttner. After years of moving around with her family as her father served in the USMC, the family settled in Albany, Georgia. Debbie attended art school in Valdosta, Georgia, before returning to Albany. Debbie married David E. Clark in 1979 and they were married until his death in 2014.
Debbie was known for her joyous laugh, her love of cats, art, Halloween, cooking, and her selfless devotion to her family. More than one friend of her children found their way to her home for a hot meal and a bed to crash on when needed. Her children and grandchildren always knew they could count on Debbie to be there when they needed her without fear of judgement.
Debbie is preceded in death by her husband, David E. Clark; her children David E. Clark II and Claire M. Kaster; and her mother, Noel (Steidle) Buttner. Debbie is survived by her sons William Scott (Renee) Clark of Alabama and Patrick Clark of Washington State; daughters Noel (Tony) Clark of Georgia and Jennifer Clark of Georgia; father George Buttner, USMC Ret., of Georgia; siblings William (Tonya) Buttner of Maryland and Colleen Butler of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and a host of honorary children who found their way to Debbie’s home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Albany, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Debbie’s name to the animal rescue organization of your choice.
