Betty Loden Troup

Obituary Date: Monday, August 26, 2024

Betty Loden Troup, age 86 of Toccoa, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at home after a brief illness.

A daughter of the late Bill Loden and Marjorie Davis Loden, she was born February 8, 1938 in Stephens County, Georgia. After graduating Stephens County High School in 1955, Betty attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega. She married Robert A Troup in 1957 and soon joined Troup’s Studio where, along with husband, Bob, they worked together and built the family business until 2016. Her contributions to the business are too numerous to list. She was adept as a Colorist for the portraiture work, pricing and marketing designer, and a master of styling, posing, purchasing, and customer service. Alongside husband Bob, they, with other photographers, formed the Georgia Professional Photographers Association.

Throughout her life, she offered her service in many roles within her church and community. As a faithful servant of God, she was a member of Toccoa First Methodist and active in the Open Door class since its inception and a member of the Methodist Women. She served in Pilot Club for 30 years and the Horti-Floral Garden Club since 1961. Some of those highlights are her time gathering and preserving historical records for the Church History Team, Leading Pilot Club initiatives, unveiling the Blue Star Memorial Marker brought to Toccoa, forming and leading Blue Bird and Campfire Groups and so many more.

While most of her time after retirement was spent doing for others, she enjoyed special family time with children and grandchildren and gardening, crafting, scrapbooking and playing cards with friends. She enjoyed time at the lake, where she would host family and friends. Throughout life, she had a gift for showing kindness to people. She prayed, cooked for, visited, sent cards and genuinely cared for so many. She will be remembered as energetic, compassionate and most proud of her family.
