Reba Joan Townsend

Mrs. Reba Joan Townsend, 89, of Lula, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Griffin, Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Pierce Ashmore will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on March 5, 1935 in Gainesville, GA., she was the daughter of the late William David and Essie Maybelle Ledford Cook. She was a homemaker who took great pride in and loved caring for her family. Mrs. Townsend was a pillar in the New Holland community for many years, praying for and helping anyone in need. She was a member of First Congregational Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Fritz” Townsend; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mrs. Townsend is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Cathy and Ronnie Beasley of Gainesville, Vickie and Timmy Adams of Lula, Bonnie and Darrell Queen of Lula, Renae and Wayne Briscoe of Gainesville; sons and daughters in law, Ralph Jr. and Donna Townsend of Gainesville, Tim and Jennifer Townsend of Jefferson; grandchildren, Kim Causey of Lula, Ralph Townsend, III (Kristy) of Lula, Amy Bryant (Jody) of Lula, Kellie Wall (Chris) of Gainesville, Hollie St. John of AL, Lee Ann Brown (Justin) of FL, Josh Queen (Mindy) of Lula, Chris Townsend (Chelsey) of Hoschton, Jacob Townsend of Jefferson, Andrew Adams (Brittany) of Cleveland, Madison Hirt of Gainesville, Ethan Hirt of Gainesville; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a number of other loving relatives.
