Patricia Lynn Cato

Obituary Date: Friday, August 23, 2024

Mrs. Patricia Lynn Cato, 72, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Brown and Rev. Scott Sims will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Monday, August 26, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on January 4, 1952 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late C. J. and Helen Bagwell Roper. Mrs. Cato retired from Innovata which was originally Moreno Press. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church.

Patti was a kind, selfless giver who always made people feel loved and cared for. She had a warm wonderful laugh and a spirit of service. She volunteered faithfully at Mountain View Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, leading Vacation Bible School and serving as a member of the hospitality committee. Recently she also sang with the Flat Creek Baptist Church Golden Chorale. She poured her energy into serving others – always ready to lend a helping hand – whether it was cooking a meal for someone, being a caring person to talk to or spoiling her five children and grandchildren with her boundless unconditional love.

She was a consummate listener and encourager. She enjoyed working in her yard and growing a garden every summer.

She will be greatly missed as we know no one can take her place.

Mrs. Cato is survived by her husband, Lee Cato of Gainesville; daughters, Dondi Vickers (Renee) of Flowery Branch, Ansley Cato of Sylva, NC; sons, Chris Cato (Jennifer) of Cleveland, Yancey Vickers (Kanako) of Pendergrass, Toby Cato of Gainesville; five grandchildren; brother Danny Roper (Pearl) of AZ and a number of other loving relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Mountain View Baptist Church Building Fund, 3765 Mountain View Rd, Gainesville, GA 30504.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Rd., Gainesville, Ga. 30504 is in charge of the arrangements.
