Ruth McTaggart Penland

Ruth McTaggart Penland, age 81, of Hoschton GA passed away on Saturday, August 17.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bobby Penland; her parents, Dennis and Inez McTaggart; brothers, Cecil, Howard, and Keith McTaggart. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Penland Bruce (Mike); son, Michael Scott Penland; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Christina Bruce (Michael Crow), granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lora Bruce Carrion (Sebastian); great granddaughters, Briar Crow and Peyton Carrion; sisters and brother-in-laws, Louise McTaggart (Abe Shahin), Reba Dockery (Paul), and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth was born on March 28, 1943, in Hayesville, N.C.  She was a graduate of Hayesville High School. She was a retired Administrative Assistant after 34 years of service from AT&T. Ruth was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, GA. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She loved game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, loved her 2 cats, gardening, bird and deer watching. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Flanigan's Funeral Home, Buford GA. with Reverend Ted Keen officiating. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. before the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church in memory of Ruth Penland.
