James Louis Brookshire

Obituary Date: Tuesday, August 20, 2024

Mr. James Louis Brookshire, 92, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on January 17, 1932 in Lumpkin County, he was the son of the late Jessie James Brookshire and the late Lula Gravitt Brookshire. Mr. Brookshire was a veteran of the United States Army earning the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War. He retired from the Hall County Sheriff’s Department; and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brookshire was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Brookshire; brothers, Fermon, Clay and Ray Brookshire and daughter in law, Teresa Rundles.

Mr. Brookshire is survived by his sons and daughter in law, Ronnie and Phyllis Brookshire, Mitchell Brookshire all of Gainesville; grandson, Jason Brookshire; granddaughters, Carrie Stephens (Darrell), Kristy Cline (Eric), Nicole Moore (Daniel), and Becky Dover (Carmen); great grandson, Chandler Brookshire and fiancé Macie; great granddaughters, Gracie Brookshire, Lily Stephens, Harper Evans; great grandson, Cash Moore and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.
