Jennifer Jones Akin

Jennifer Jones Akin, age 53, of Hoschton, GA passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Jones. Mrs. Akin is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years Andy Akin; children, William Akin, Austin Akin, and Julie and Skyler Rabson all of Hoschton; mother, Phyllis Still Jones of Snellville, GA; sister, Donna (Bruce) Bramlett of Clarkesville, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Morris and Joan Akin of Hoschton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Angie Pinkston of Hoschton; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Akin was born on April 17, 1971 in Decatur, GA. She graduated in the class of 1990 from South Gwinnett High School and in the class of 1994 from the University of Georgia. Later she received her Master's Degree in Education from Piedmont College and then her Specialist's Degree in Education from Lincoln Memorial University. She was a school teacher and was employed with Gwinnett County Public Schools for the past twenty-seven years. Mrs. Akin was a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church on Pine Rd in Dacula GA. She loved gardening, traveling, and the beach, as well as being in the swimming pool. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church with Pastor Jason Mincey officiating. Mrs. Akin will Lie in State from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Snellville Historical Cemetery in Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17 at the funeral home.
