William Gordon Welch

William Gordon Welch of Lula, passed away August 10, 2024 doing what he loved, racing in Toccoa. He was born in Gainesville, Ga on June 3, 1963 to William and Mattie Welch.

Gordon loved his kids and family. His passion was in racing, where he was at the track, surrounded by friends and fans. When you didn't find him racing or working on a racecar he was fishing. There was nothing he hated more than to be out fished.

Gordon is survived by his sisters, Pam Rider, Nola Brown, Lisa Simpson and Paula Gazaway. He was a beloved father of 5, Jennifer Mutter, Christina, Jason, Jorden and Georgia Welch. Grandfather to Cameran Grier, Christian Welch, Marilyn Edge, Cassie and Katie Sosebee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Theresa Motes.

Let us remember William Gordon Welch not for the way he left this world, but for the way he filled our lives with laughter and love. Rest in peace, Gordon, and may you continue to race through the skies above. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help off-set the funeral expenses.
