Gene Gordon Mercer

Mr. Gene Gordon Mercer, 87, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Channell will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Born on January 14, 1937 in Kenly, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Thurman and Mide Hooks Mercer. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Mercer retired from Delta Airlines where he was a Pilot. He was a member of Christ Place Church.

In addition to his parents, Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Mercer.

Mr. Mercer is survived by his wife, Janette W. Mercer of Gainesville; sons and daughters in law, Warren and Lynn Mercer of Athens, GA, Wayne and Lisa Mercer of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Jacob Mercer, Wyatt Mercer, Jessica Mercer, Ashley Madenson and a number of other loving relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Place Church, 3461 Atlanta Hwy., Flowery Branch, GA. 30542.
