Elaine Josefina Carlan

Elaine Josefina Carlan, age 71 of Toccoa passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 from a sudden onset illness.

A daughter of the late Dewitt D. Carlan and Josefina Balzac Carlan, she was born November 29, 1952 at Ramey Air Force Base, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.  She grew up in Homer, Georgia.  She was a graduate of Banks County High School, Class of 1970, a graduate of North Georgia College in 1974 and a graduate of Georgia State University and Crawford Long Hospital in 1975 with a certificate in medical technology.  She retired from Emory University Hospital Systems in 2015 and in 2017 moved to Toccoa.  She was of the Catholic faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Ronald Carlan.

Survivors include her sister, Brenda Carlan of Toccoa; nieces, Tamera Owens and Quintina (Chris) Roberts of Toccoa; great-nieces and nephew, AuBree Jackson, Vivian and Rhett Roberts of Toccoa; numerous cousins..

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15, 2024, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Flowers are optional.  Memorials may be made to the Stephens County Human Society, P.O. Box 2182, Toccoa, Georgia 30577, the Currahee Military Museum, 160 N. Alexander Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 or the charity of one’s choice in memory of Elaine Carlan.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, 3 p.m. at Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Charles Crabbe and Henry Vaughn officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
