Willie Parker Vanderford, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 12, 2024 in Commerce, Georgia. She was born on May 29, 1933, in Alpharetta, Georgia, to her parents, Robert Parker and Ila Shirley Parker, both of whom she cherished deeply.
In her professional life, Willie dedicated herself to a career at Sears in Tucker, Georgia, where she contributed her talents diligently. However, outside of work, she found joy in playing cards and had a profound love for flowers, which brought color and vibrancy to her life.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her skill as an accomplished guitar player, having shared her musical talents with the gospel group Crystal River. Her music touched the hearts of many and will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of listening to her play.
Willie was a loving and devoted spouse to her late husband, James "Louie" Vanderford. She is survived by her children: Robbie (Curt) Wilson, Tracy (Scott) Grisham, Dan (Diane) Vanderford, and Todd (Michelle) Vanderford. Her presence will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy into her life.
Willis is reunited in eternity with her late family members: Shirley Carey, Nancy Manard, Carl Parker, Paul Parker, and Alton Parker.
A visitation in Willie's honor will be held on August 14, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia. The funeral service will take place the following day, August 15, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Jot Em Down Road. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
