Julio Cesar Montolio

Obituary Date: Tuesday, August 6, 2024

Born on October 31, 1953, in Barahona, Dominican Republic, Julio Cesar Montolio, age 70, of Dacula, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Julio was a true entrepreneur at heart. He worked in sales for many years in the Dominican Republic, including a position at Sued Pharmaceutica. He was the owner of a gas station in New York City, NY, held various supervisory roles in the environmental services industry in Boston, MA, at Janitronics Building Services, and was a real estate agent at Century 21, which was a true passion of his. This led him to become the co-founder and owner of JEM Real Estate with his brother. After moving to Sunrise, FL, he returned to sales until eventually retiring in 2018.

Julio was known for his larger-than-life personality, his love of helping people, and his true dedication to his family, both immediate and extended. True to his nature, he still kept in touch with friends from his childhood. For many years, he was an active member of his church at Sacred Heart in Boston, MA, and served as the master of ceremonies at many events throughout the community. He certainly left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

In addition, three big passions of Julio’s were sports, politics, and food. He was heavily involved in local politics throughout his life, both in the Dominican Republic and in the United States. One of his proudest moments was being a key member of the campaign of the late Thomas Menino, long-time mayor of Boston, MA. He was a true Boston sports team fan. Not only was he a fan, but he also hosted a radio show on Radiolandia 1330 AM in Boston called “Conversando de Deportes” with Juan Pedro (JP) Villaman, along with a sports section on CuencaVision Boston. He also served as a sports commentator with JP for the Boston Red Sox broadcasts in Spanish. His love for food was evident—he enjoyed every cuisine and savored every morsel he tasted. A trip to Legal Sea Foods would certainly make his day. His love for all of these passions is evident in his family, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

He is survived by his mother, Gisela Daysi Tejeda de Montolio; his loving and dedicated wife, Nancy Rodriguez Montolio; his daughter, Juceyna A. Ventura, and her husband Felix Ventura Pichardo; his sons, Carlos Julio Montolio and his wife Karla Montolio, and Julio Esteban Montolio and his wife Karolin Bello-Montolio; and his grandchildren, Camila, Daniela, Julian, Evan, Jeremiyah, and Karissa. Julio is also survived by his brother Edwin Montolio, his sisters Mayra Montolio de Bello and Gina Montolio and their spouses, and his nieces, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Julio is preceded in death by his father, Julio Cesar Montolio Ramirez.

His love for his family was first and foremost. Julio was a loving father and “Abu,” as he was called by all his grandkids, and was active in every part of their lives. You would often find him being the biggest cheerleader at his kids' and grandkids' sporting events. Pickups and drop-offs were some of his favorite activities, especially when going with Julian and Evan after school to either Chick-fil-A or Five Below. His love of history will continue through his grandson Jeremiyah, who loved sitting and hearing about all the stories Abu shared with him. Camila and Daniela loved that every FaceTime call Abu would say, “I am going to bite you!” and they would run around with the phone in hand while Abu made chomping sounds. Karissa loved sitting next to him and clapping along with him. His kids will miss his hearty laughter, youthful spirit, advice, wisdom, and how he made each of them feel special in their own way. To his wife, he was her best friend, and she knew from the moment they met that, in good or bad times, in sickness and in health, Julio would be her partner for life and beyond.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hamilton Funeral Home. A service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Deacon Marino Gonzalez will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted.

The family wishes to thank all those who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.

We find comfort in knowing that Julio's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever and ever. El beso que nos diste lo llevamos en el corazón por siempre.
