Margaret “Meg” LaBarre, 75, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, August 9, 2024.
Born May 3, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Logan and Marie Phillips, she had been living in Dawson County for the past 9 years having moved from Roswell. Meg retired as an elementary school teacher in the Fulton County School System following 25 years of service. She was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Marie Louise Glass and Sally Hennelly.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Albert “Bert” LaBarre, Dawsonville; children, Bret LaBarre, Cumming, Staci and Travis Johnson, Dawsonville, Beth and Michael Vanderhoff, Cumming; grandchildren, Sydney Johnson, Avery LaBarre, Zahra Johnson, Oliver LaBarre, Ridge Vanderhoff, Louise Vanderhoff; sisters and brothers in law, Jeanne Faas, Roswell, Juliana and Peter Wojcik, Bay Shore, NY, Sandra and Barney Reilly, Bay Shore, NY; brother and sister in law, Jay and Kim Phillips, East Islip, NY; and a number of other relatives.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Higgins will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
