Jimmy Kent Stewart, age 83, of Demorest, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Born on December 4, 1940, in Clarkesville, he was son of the late Virgil and Effie Mae Wheeler Stewart. Jimmy was a loyal employee of Midway Electric with 69 years of dedicated service and he previously worked with the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 in Cornelia. He was a member of the Elks Club of Toccoa, who enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach, camping trips to Ellijay, and spending time with his family. Jimmy was of the Christan faith and recently gave his heart to Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Deborah Stewart, Louise Patterson, Geneva Ivester, and Winnie Lou Tench; brothers, LeeRoy Stewart, Doug Stewart, Billy Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Buddy Stewart, Johnny Stewart, Herbert Stewart, and Herman Stewart; brother-in-law, Kenneth Crocker.
Survivors include wife of 49 years, Jeanell Crocker Stewart of Demorest; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Vicki Stewart of Flowery Branch and Tracy and Edita Stewart of Oakwood; grandchildren and spouses, Zane and Amanda Stewart of Cornelia and Alyson and Dustin Wellborn of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Benjamin, William, Connor, Addy, and Anderson; sister, Betty Sue Terry of Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Willene Stewart of Mt. Airy; sisters-in-law, Geneva Shirley (Chester) of Cornelia, and Louise Terrell of Baldwin; brother-in-law, Carson Crocker (Deborah) of Alto; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 11 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor Tim Tanner and Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the funeral home.
