David Dwight Hand

David Dwight Hand, age 71, of Gainesville, GA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on August 3, 2024, at the age of 71.

Born on May 9, 1953, in Gainesville, GA, David lived his entire life in his hometown, where he was surrounded by friends and family.

 David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne Hand, his high school sweetheart with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Brian Hand and Alisa Crimaldi, his surrogate son, Robert Amaro, and his treasured grandchildren, Kaylee Hand, Tyler Hand, Maya Hand, Sam Crimaldi, Jolie Crimaldi, and Julianna Crimaldi. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Louise and Terry Harris; siblings and in-laws George V. and Patsy Hand, Denise Jackson, Glenda and David Stowe, Brenda and Mitch Truelove.  David was also preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth Villyard and George Vernon Hand, and his stepfather, Ralph Villyard.  sister-in-laws Sara Truelove and Bobbie Truelove, 

David worked as a machinist and was known for his ingenuity and problem-solving skills, both in his professional life and at home. He had a passion for restoring vehicles and enjoyed making them faster, a hobby that brought him immense satisfaction. A proud graduate of North Hall High School, David was also deeply involved in the family farm during his younger years.

 David was renowned for his sense of humor. Always a joker, he loved playing practical jokes and making others laugh. He was lovingly known as Dear Old Dad to his children and Pops to his grandchildren. He had a generous heart and willingness to help those who asked.

 A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, located at 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501. The service will follow immediately at 3:00 p.m., with burial at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

 David will always be remembered by his friends and family. His memory will live on through the funny memories we all share. May he rest in peace.
