Marian Coker Murphy

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Marian Coker Murphy, age 94, of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered rest Monday August 5, 2024. Mrs. Murphy was born in Hall County, Georgia the daughter of the late Hoyt and Lena Thomas Coker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Sprout” Murphy, daughter, Rebecca Murphy Canup, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Murphy worked with McEver packing in the shipping department and also worked at Bell Minor Nursing Home in Gainesville, GA. She was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church, loved making quilts, working in her flower garden and enjoyed watching TV westerns. But most of all, her family says she was a great cook.

Survivors include her daughter, Sara Murphy of Pendergrass, GA. Son Danny Murphy of Pendergrass, GA. Four grandchildren, Master Chief Sammy K. Canup of Norfolk, VA, Amber Wood (Emory) of Lula GA, Kevin Canup of Toccoa, GA and Crystal Greenwood of Banks Co. GA.   Nine of great grandchildren also survive.

In accordance with Mrs. Murphy’s wishes, she will be cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date.
