Donald Leon Canady, Sr.

Mr. Donald Leon Canady, Sr. age 85 of Commerce passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Canady was born in Metter to the late, Johnnie Leon and Mary Lillian Sconyers Canady.  Mr. Canady was a retired principal, a member of the Commerce First Methodist Church, and a US Army veteran.  Mr. Canady was a big Georgia Bulldogs fan.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Canady was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Canady Lamb.

Mr. Canady is survived by his wife, Marie Bowen Canady of Commerce; children, Lee Canady, Jr. (Patty) of Swainsboro, Melissa Canady of Swainsboro, Darlene McConnell (Lewis) of Commerce, Boyd Chandler, Jr. of Jefferson, and Greg Chandler (Lisa) of Maysville; four grandchildren, Ben Canady (Michaela), Zack Canady (Katie), Ryan McConnell, and Dr. Brittany Lord (Austin), great grandson, David Lord.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10^th at 2 PM from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Vaughn Howington, Jr. officiating with the interment following at Jackson Memorial Gardens.
