Roy M. Felton of Gainesville passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday morning, August 2nd after a brief illness.
He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 8, 1934, to William and Nell Felton. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and son Steven.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Cissy), son Michael and wife Anne of Gainesville, GA, daughter Nancy of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he attended Stillwater High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in accounting and postgraduate studies in computer science. He moved his family to Gainesville in 1963 to join Dillard, Bates and Betts which began his long career as a local CPA. As a partner with Bates, Betts, Felton and Carter, Roy established the computer department creating efficiencies and streamlining accounting processes, a first in the North Georgia area.
Roy enjoyed his life and recently indicated he had few regrets. He was struck by polio as a child leaving him without the use of his legs but that failed to slow him down and he never considered himself to be handicapped. He had numerous hobbies including boating, restoring antique automobiles and flying his airplanes. Fond memories for his family and many friends.
Roy will be missed but never forgotten.
At the family's request, there will be no formal services held and Mr. Felton will be cremated.
