Mavis Kimbrell, age 81, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Born on December 19, 1942, in Hawkeye, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Harry L. and Cecil Mae Appleman Anderson. Mrs. Kimbrell was a homemaker and self-employed poultry farmer. She took joy in doing her hair and nails and also enjoyed shopping, cooking, and family dinners. Mavis was fond of spending time with her husband and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was an active member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Earl, Jim, David, Art, and Roy Anderson and son-in-law, Jim Holloway.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Bradley Kimbrell of Mt. Airy; daughter, Sharrie Holloway of Mt. Airy; grandchildren: Courtney Holloway of Mt. Airy, Cody Holloway of Mt. Airy, Caitlyn Hulsey (Bradley) of Demorest, and Pyper Holloway (fiancé, Scott Wagner) of Clarkesville; great-granddaughter, Makayla Hulsey; sisters, Margaret Vargason of Brownsville, Texas and Faye Latta of Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pruitt Hospice and her caretaker, Breann Coalley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Larry Ryals and Rev. Raymond Payne officiating. Interment will follow the service in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the service hour on Thursday, at the funeral home.
