James William “Jim” Trotter, age 87 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on July 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Clyde Peyton & Monteen Meadows Trotter. Jim served his country proudly in the United States Army with a tour in Germany. He was self-employed specializing in home construction for over 50 years before his retirement. In his spare time, Jim loved working in his vegetable garden, canning, and sharing the fruits of his labor with many in the community. He was also a master craftsman and woodworker, building many custom furniture pieces for others. Most of all, Jim loved his family tremendously and was affectionately known as “Papa Jim” to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Teresa Trotter Stamey & Tina Trotter Cawthon; son-in-law, Alex Harris; granddaughter, Julie Harris; and by his brothers, Clyde Peyton Trotter, Jr., Larry Trotter, & Leveyon Trotter; sister-in-law, Pat Trotter.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Burke Trotter; daughter, Tammy Harris; grandchildren, Jordan Stamey, Jonathan Stamey, Christy Keef, Holly Harris Palmer, & Zach Harris; great-grandchildren, Will Stamey, Garrison Stamey, Nora Stamey, Jack Stamey, Balin Humphreys, Harris Palmer, Jess Palmer, Brady Harris, Kyler Keef, Katie Keef, Carlin Fricks, Camryn Fricks, & Trace McClellon; brothers, Rev. Charles Trotter & Tommy Trotter; sister & brother-in-law, Brenda & Leroy Burrell; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
